3DS MAX *is* a very complex program, but the basics can be picked up fairly quickly if one just spends a little time going through the manual and tutorials included in the box. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be overwhelmed by the stuff you can do. So to answer your question: yes, it's very simple to pick up, you just need to devote a little time.
